Cytodifferentiation

Cards (6)

  • Cytodifferentiation starts when the neural tube is closed at the end of week four
  • Neuroepithelial cells differentiatie into neuroblast cells, these wil prolifereate further to neurons and soms glia cells. the also produce the ependymal cells which line the central canal and brain vesicles
  • Young neurons are formed in the ventricular or ependymal zone that surrounds the lumen of the neural tube. These neurons will migrate peripherally to establish the mantle or intermediate zone
  • The intermediate zone contains the cell bodies of neurons that extend their axons peripherally to form the outermost marginal zone
  • The mantle zone will differentiate into the gray matter
  • The marginal zone develops into the white matter
