Secondary heart field and proepicardium

• cardiogenic cells of the secondary heart field will form the right ventricle and the outflow tract
• The proepicardium consists of an aggregate of splanchnic mesodermal cells that lies near the inflow area of the early heart
• Proepicardium gives rise to the epicardium, most interstitial cells of the heart and the coronary vasculature.
