  • d) Evaluate - Miracles/Visions are sure proof that God must exist
F: No other explanation. Change + impact can be so remarkable that medical or scientific explanation is futile. Any claim has been investigated by the church + found to be genuine + concrete evidence. God is supernatural, miracles reveal his omnipotence.
  • d) Evaluate - Miracles/ visions are sure proof that God must exist.
A: Not of sound mind. Hallucinations, feel very real in the moment. Claims aren't enough proof, no lasting evidence as just 1 person at 1 time + not ongoing. People use the God of the Gaps Syndrome, assuming things are God in order to fill in the gaps. Atheist - David Hume - laws of nature can't be broken.

  • d) Evaluate - The use of contraception in a marriage is morally wrong.
F: Defies Gods will of "be fruitful and multiply", sex in marriage should be fruitful. The marriage covenant + vows mention having children. Leads to promiscuity. Sex has 2 purposes, unitive + procreative + they can't be seperated as it is Gods intention. Church teaches that life is a gift and so encourages family. "Contraception is intrinsically evil" - Pope Paul VI
  • d) Evaluate - The use of contraception in a marriage is morally wrong.
A: Some marriages choose not to have children so it is not morrally wrong. Natural family planning is acceptable and promoted by the church as it is not just about avoiding children but choosing the right time. Contraception can be used to protect the life of the mother, sanctity of life. Some medication requires no pregnancy, contraception helps. Anglicans + other protestants allow contraception for right reasons.
