• Supernatural explanations for disease, such as astrology were commonly believed in medieval England, because there was a lack of scientific knowledge, which meant that there weren't many other explanations for disease. People cared deeply about the alignment of planets and stars, and believed that an incorrect alignment could cause various diseases.
• Doctors would study star charts, and ask patients about their zodiac signs to try and find treatments for the ailments.
