  • right hemisphere controls left side of body(visa versa)
  • has a thin outer layer(cerebral cortex)which is highly folded to inrease surface area and allow it to contain more neurones
• the hypothalamus

  1)regulating body temp-monitors body temp-homeostatic mechanisms

  2)regulating digestive activity-hormonal releases

  3)controlling endocrine functons-causes pituitary gland to release hormones
• the cerebellum

  • co ordinates movement
  • involved in balance
• the medulla oblongata

  • contains co ordination centres

  -cardiac centre and respiratory centres
