• Party whips still control the vast majority of voting outcomes and backbench MPs are at risk of future promotion by voting against their party leadership
• Many of the debates that the BBC wins the time for a held in Westminster hall and not the HOC this shows that there is a difference in the level of status and there is also normally no vote after these debates and influence is limited
