Respiratory System - This is also known as "Human Breathing System". This organ system is responsible for taking oxygen and expelling carbon dioxide.
The Parts of Respiratory System
• Nose
• Mouth
• Nasal Cavity
• Larynx
• Pharynx
• Trachea
• Lungs
• Bronchi
• Bronchioles
• Alveoli
• Diaphragm
Nose and Mouth - the entrance of oxygen in our body.
Nasal Cavity or Nasal Passageway - the air passing this part is warm, damp, and clean.
Pharynx - is our throat and it supports our respiratory and digestive systems.
Larynx - is our voice box.
Trachea - it is also known as wind pipe. It is an empty tube that serves as passageway of air into the lungs.
Lungs - are the main organ of the "Respiratory System".
Bronchi - the two branching tubes that connect the trachea to the lungs.
Bronchioles - these are the hairlike tubes that connect to alveoli.
Alveoli - these are the small air sacs that allow gas exchange in the lungs.
Epiglottis - this is usually upright at rest allowing air to pass into the larynx and lungs. This is part is important for digestive system and respiratory system.
When we inhale oxygen enters our body.
When we exhale carbondioxide exists to our body.
When we inhale ribs move up and outward and the diaphragm moves in and chest space decreases.
When we exhale ribs moves down and inward and the diaphragm moves up and chest space increases.
