Hydrological Cycle

Cards (8)

  • Infiltration
Process by which water enters the ground or soil.
  • Precipitation
Water falls from clouds towards the ground, as rain or snow, if the air is cold enough.
  • Condensation
Warm moist air cools as it rises, water vapour changes into water droplets. Small droplets may combine and gather to form larger droplets and clouds.
  • Surface Runoff
Water flows from highlands and over the ground surface into streams and rivers.
  • Transpiration
Process by which water is lost through the surface of a plant (via leaves.)
  • Evaporation
Sun's heat cause water to change into water vapour.
  • Percolation
Downward flow of water through soil, into the ground water due to gravity.
  • Groundwater
Water that collects below the surface of Earth.
