• Right Realism : Situational Crime Prevention

  Bollards, fences, hostile architecture makes it harder to 'get away' with crime or commit crime. Clarke theorised 'Target Hardening' to achieve this.

  Evaluation - displacement - Mirza - crime will just move to another area
• Displacement


  Mirza argues that crime prevention strategies that focus on place will simply lead to crime moving to a different place or time.
• Right Realist : Broken Windows


  Wilson - immediately repairing damaged areas + zero-tolerance style policing with harsh punishments

  Evaluation - hasn't been applied correctly as governments mainly focus on 'tough on crime' component not 'repair the area' component.
• Right Realism : Military Style Policing


  In the US :

  • drive armoured cars
  • carrying weapons always
  • wearing stab vests

  Belief was if they showed they were prepared, they were more likely that criminals would rationally choose not to provoke them.

  Evaluation - lead to increased marginalisation so will lead to more crime (left realists)
