Role and significance of the opposition

• Opposition- is the term referring to all parties that are not part of the government
• All MPs and peers who’s arent members of the governing party may be described as an opposition
• The official opposition is the 2nd largest party in the HoC
• Leader of the opposition has special privelleges notably to speak in debates and to take the main role at PM question time
