If the case is heard in the Magistrate court and there is dissatisfaction with sentence and/or conviction then an appeal can be made to the Crown court by defence.
If still dissatisfied with the Crown court decision then a further appeal by defence or in limited cases by prosecution can be made on grounds of sentence and/ or conviction to the Court of Appeal.
If still unhappy then a further appeal can be made by both prosecution and defence from the Court of Appeal on points of public importance to the Supreme court.
