post transcriptional level

Cards (4)

  • intron: section of a gene that does no code for an amino acid
  • extron: section of DNA that does code for amino acid
  • post transcriptional level: the editing of primary mRNA and the removal of introns to produce mature mRNA
  • slicing of mRNA:
    1. spliceosome causes the intron to form a loop
    2. the intron is excised and the exons are then spliced together
    3. the mRNA may then leave the nucleus into the cytoplasm for the next stage of protein synthesis
