Climate change

• Carbon dioxide is the most important greenhouse gas as it has the greatest effect on global warming
• Methane is produced by livestock farming, rice cultivation and landfill sites
• The main greenhouse gases are carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, water vapour.
• An example of evidence for climate change would be ice cores, scientists can guess temperatures from ice cores.
• A natural cause of climate change could be volcanic eruptions which release large amounts of sulphur into the atmosphere. The sulphur reflects sunlight back to space causing cooling.
• Human activities such as burning fossil fuels releases carbon dioxide into the air. Carbon dioxide traps heat in the Earth's atmosphere leading to an increase in temperature.
