  • The Target Population is a large group of individuals that a particular researcher is interested in studying
  • Random sampling is when all members of the target population have an equal chance of being selected e.g random number generator
  • Systematic sampling is when every nth member of the target poopulation is selected
  • Systematic sampling uses a sampling frame
  • A Sampling Frame is list of the people in the target populatiob organised into a particular order
  • Stratified sampling is when participants in each Stratum (subgroup of target population) are selected using random sampling
  • Opportunity sampling uses participants of the target population who happen to be willing & available
  • Volunteer sampling is where participants select themselves to be part of the sample
