    • Production can be continuous with no stoppages
    • Factories operate 24 hours a day using machines and/or human workers rotating in shifts
  • Economies of scale
    • Firm can buy raw materials in bulk
    • Reduces unit costs
    • Allows the firm to charge lower and more competitive prices for their products
  • Mass market
    Firms in a mass market are likely to use flow production, as they produce (and sell) large volumes of identical products
