• the test for lipids is the emulsion test
• • take a sample and mix it thoroughly with ethanol - any lipid will go into solution with ethanol
  • filter
  • pour solution into water in a clean test tube
  • a cloudy white emulsion indicates presence of lipids

  -> made up of tiny lipid droplets that comes out of solution when mixed with water
