generator effect

Cards (5)

  • the induction of potential difference (and current if in a complete circuit) in a wire which is moving relative to a magnetic field or experiencing a change in magnetic field
  • can do it by moving a magnet in a coil wire OR moving a conductor wire in a magnetic field
  • if magnet / coil is moved backwards and forwards it creates potential difference
  • induced current always opposes the change that made it
  • to increase size of induced potential difference
    • increases speed of movement
    • increases strength of the magnetic field
