Types of contractions

• Isometric contraction - occurs when tension delevlops in a muscle, but the muscle length does NOT change
• Isotonic contraction - dynamic contracts because the muscle lkength chnages during the contraction
• Isotonic - concentric - the most common type. The muscle shortens, causing the movement at the joint
• Isotonic - eccentric - occurs when the muscle lengthens while under tension
