The Cloud

• The cloud is not the internet
• The cloud is part of the internet and relies on the internet to connect you to your content or service
• the cloud is made up of servers which reside in physical locations around the world called data centers
• Organisations use a cloud storage provider to store data in a data center as opposed to buying equipment and maintaining a physical location.
• Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS): Provides virtual machines that can be used to run applications and other services
• Cloud computing allows organisations to scale their services quickly, easily and cheaply by adding more resources when needed
