  • can't base ethical theory on abnormal/rare situations - Fletcher's examples don't reflect real life
  • too much freedom - pressure to decide, ppl not "saints", what's loving is subjective
  • incompatible w Christian ethics, Jesus had other laws
  • follow laws = "love the Lord"

  disregards rules, against the law + promotes anarchy. Can't base ethical theory on abnormal situations

  straw mans SE - mostly follow the rules unless in abnormal/exceptional circumstances where it goes against love
