pulmonary flow (flow of blood to heart and lungs and back)
coronarybloodvessels supply the heart with oxygen and nutrients and fall under the systemic flow
vein > blood going towards the heart
arteries > blood going away to body
blood coming from a giant vein called the superior vena cava and inferior vena cava ends up in the right atrium. the blood then flows to the right ventricle through the tricuspid valve.
blood going from the right ventricle passes through the pulmonary valve
pulmonary means lungs
after blood passes through the pulmonary valve, it splits, some blood going through to the left pulmonary valve and some to the right pulmonary valve. the blood then goes to the lungs.
deoxygenated blood is dark red in colour
vessels that carry the blood from the lungs back to the heart are called the pulmonary veins
blood goes from the left atrium to the left ventricle through the mitral valve
the final valve in the heart that the blood passes through is the aortic valve
blood flow through the heart
after the blood goes through the aorta, the blood goes out to the rest of the body.
the thorax is the region of the body between the neck and the abdomen. this includes the heart, lungs and diaphragm.
