TYPES OF FAULT

    Cards (9)

    • Strike-Slip - where the blocks have mostly moved horizontally, similar to transform fault.
    • Fault plane - the horizontal stripes formed after fault
    • Dip-Slip - blocks have mostly shifted vertically. The hanging wall (right part) moves down.
    • Dip-Slip is also called the normal fault and happens when the foundation is weak.
    • Reverse fault - when hanging wall (right part) moves up and foot wall (left part) moves down.
    • In reverse fault, the fault plane is located below the hanging wall.
    • Oblique-Slip - suggests both dip-slip and strike-slip. The fault plane is slanting line.
    • In oblique-slip, the footwall (left part) has space with the hanging wall (right part).
