Series and parallel circuits

Cards (8)

  • Series circuits : One component broken = all components stop working
  • Potential difference = total p.d of supply is shared between components
    V(total) = V1 + V2
  • Current = where’ve ammeter is placed in a series circuit the reading is the same
    I1 = I2 = I3
  • Resistance = series circuit , resistance add up to make total resistance
    R(total) = R1 + R2
  • Parallel circuits - one component broken = no affect others, more useful
  • Parallel circuits
    Potential difference - same for all components
    V1 = V2
  • Parallel circuits
    current - total current = total of all current through tall components
    I(total) = I1 + I2 + I3
  • Parallel circuits
    resistance - adding resistance reduces total resistance
