  • What is laser cutting?
    Laser cutting is a form of CAM and it uses a high-powered laser to cut, etch and engrave your material. The lasers cut by burning through the material and are incredibly precise.
    They can be used on cardboard, paper, wood, foam, acrylic as well as some metals and glass
  • What are the advantages and disadvantages of laser cutting?
    Advantages:
    • High precision
    • Parts can be nested to reduce wastage
    • 24/7
    • Can be used with a rotary attachment to cut and engrave cylindrical objects
    Disadvantages:
    • Machinery is expensive
    • Cutting emits gases that needs extraction
    • Needs to meet local exhaust ventilation guidelines
    • Laser bounces off mirrored finishes
