  • Labour leadership selection
    Using OMOV system under AV (need over 50%) in which you can be an ordinary paid up member. Thats how Jeremy Corbyn got elected.
  • Conservative leadership
    Parliamentary party narrow the field down to 2 candidates before a vote goes to ordinary members to decide the winner.
  • Lib Dem’s leadership election
    Party members vote with OMOV AV, until someone wins over 50% candidate requires support of 10% MP’s. With 200 members from at least 20 local parties. Ed Davey 2020 went through this but Vince Cable 2017 did not.
  • 2 party system
    2 main parties dominating the election. 2019 saw a combined vote share of 76% between labour and conservatives
