  Increase in productivity and technology that sustains it have created 'manufactured risks', and we can't predict the consequences to humans or the environment, e.g. air pollution
• Problems in measuring green crime

  1. Laws relating to environment differ between countries > lack of consistency in being able to compare countries, rates are socially constructed
  2. Capitalist corporations can conceal extent of their environmental damage > prevent green crimes appearing in stats
