  • Dewey Decimal Classification (DCC): Organizes all knowledge into ten main groups, shelved in numerical order.
  • Library of Congress Classification (LCC): Divides knowledge into 21 basic classes, each identified by a letter.
  • Cataloging: Organizing and labeling materials for easy retrieval.
  • o    Author Catalog: is arranged alphabetically by the author’s last name
  • o    Title Catalog: instead of the author at the top of the card, the title of the book is listed
  • o    Subject Catalog: organize all of the library holding by the main subjects of the title.
  • Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC): Digital tool for finding and locating books, articles, and other materials.
  • Shelving: Arranging material on shelves according to the appropriate classification system.
  • Labeling: Applying signs, stickers or codes to the indicate their identification and classification information.
