Rusting

• This is corrosion of Iron (Fe) or steel (alloy of iron and carbon) reacts with BOTH oxygen (air) and water (moisture)
• *Necessary condition: for Rusting is BOTH Air & Moisture
• Acids and salts increase the rate of rusting
• Rusting can be prevented by painting, galvanising, coating with oil/grease, using stainless steel
• Galvanised means to coat with zinc
