• How to Administer Eye Drops

  1. Wash hands before and after

  2. Tilt head backwards

  3. Pull down lower eyelid

  4. Hold dropper near eyelid without touching

  5. Place one drop inside lower eyelid

  6. Close eye

  7. Wipe away excess

  8. Repeat if more than one drop needed
• For soft contact lens users, wait 15 minutes after instilling preservative eye drop before reinserting (not oily drops)
• No issues with hard lenses

  1. Repeat eye drop steps 1 and 2

  2. Pull down lower eyelid

  3. Place thin line of ointment along inside of lower eyelid

  4. Blink to help spread over cornea

  5. Close eye and move eyeball side to side

  6. Wipe away excess ointment
• Do not use ointment with contact lenses
• Ointment may cause blurring initially, but this will resolve as the ointment melts away
