  • Eyelash follicle or a gland on the eyelid margin becomes infected, commonly by Staph. aureus
  • Acute pus producing inflammation
  • Blocked duct can lead to bacteria growth
  • Local pus formation and swelling
• Herpes simplex eye infection

  Usually caused by the herpes simplex virus type 1 HSV1, which can also cause cold sores on your mouth or face
