Tropical Stroms

Cards (4)

  • A tropical storm is rapidly rotating system that originals over warm tropical oceans
  • It is characterized by low atmospheric pressure, high winds and heavy rains
  • Tropical storms are in different parts of the world:
    • Hurricane in the Atlantic
    • Typhoon in the Pacific
    • Cyclone in the Indian Ocean
  • FORMATION OF TROPICAL CYCLONES:
-Tropical storms originate over warm tropical oceans and it moves from towards the neighboring land in a circular/spiral motion. In the tropical storm the warm air rises and the cold air sinks to the bottom forming the eye which 50km wide. In the eye there is low pressure, high winds and heavy rainfall. On reaching the neighboring land, the cyclone releases a lot of heat energy causing high humidity and heavy rainfall and after it decreases in strength.
