The Charter of Rights and Freedoms

• The Anti-terrorism Act (S.C 2001, c. 41)

  Gives the police the authority to arrest a person without a warrant and have that person detained in custody if the officer suspects on reasonable grounds, that the person's detention is necessary in order to prevent specific terrorist activity.
