  • Cultural relativism 

    The view 🪟 that behaviour cannot be judged properly unless it is viewed in the correct 💯 context of the culture in which it originates
  • Deviation from social norms
    Abnormal behaviour, deviating from unstated rules about how we "ought" to behave. Anything violating these rules in considered abnormal
  • DSM
    A list of mental disorders that is used to diagnose mental disorders. For each disorder a list of clinical characteristics is given, e.g. the symptoms that should be looked for
  • Statistical infrequency
    Abnormality is defined as those by behaviours that are extremely rare, e.g a behaviour that is found in very few people is seen as abnormal
