Cards (3)

    • Carries messages from sensory receptors in the PNS to the CNS.
    • Not all sensory information reaches the brain. Some of it terminates at the spinal cord - allows reflex actions to occur without delay.

    Sensory neurons
    • Carries messages from the CNS to directly or indirectly control muscles.
    • When stimulated, these neurons carry motor (movement) information to the muscles.
    • Neurotransmitters bind to receptors on the muscle which causes the muscle to move when stimulated and relax when inhibited.

    Motor Neurons
    • Carry messages from one part of the CNS to another.
    • Most common type of neurons
    • Allow sensory and motor neurones to communicate with eachother.
    • Usually have shorter dendrites and axons than other neuron types.

    Relay Neurons
