5000 soldiers and sailors moved into the city and Bolshevik RedGuards take over key positions and government buildings in Petrograd, where they met little oppositions
25th October 1917
Kerensky left Petrograd to try and get militarysupport. Red Guard soldier and sailors surround the winter palace. Battleship Aurora shoots a blank shot and signal Bolshevik attack on winter palace
26th October 1917
Winter palace is captured and the remaining members of the PG are arrested. 2nd congress of soviets adopt Lenin's decree on land
27th October 1917
Lenin's decree on land is accepted and the Bolsheviks put forward proposals for reorganizing the government which is opposed by the Mensheviks and Left-wing SRs. However, congress went through and adopted it.
