• Folk Tales - stories about life, adventure, love, horror and humor from which one can derive lessons.
• Epics - long narrative poems in which a series of heroic achievements or events are told.
• Folk Songs - one of the oldest form of PH literature that emerged in the pre-spanish literature period.
• Alibata - The First Filipino Alphabet
• Period of Enlightenment - contains Rizal's, Del Pilar's and Jaena's writings.
• Jose Garcia Villa became famous for his free verse.
• The Japanese Period - during this period all newspapers weren't circulated except for Tribune and Philippine Review.
• The most common theme of poems during the Japanese occupation was nationalism, country, love, life in the barrios, faith, religion and arts.
• Haiku - free verse poem made up of 17 syllables, 5-7-5.
• 3 types of poems during the Japanese Period: Haiku, Tanaga and Karaniwang Anyo.
• During the period of new society, Filipinos were hooked in reading magazine and comics.
• Post EDSA 1 Revolution several changes were evident in Filipino songs, newspapers, speeches and even television programs.
