  • Three distinct parts of the pituitary are the:
    Anterior pituitary (adenohypophysis)

  • The Intermediate lobe is poorly developed in humans and has little functional capacity other than to confuse radiologists by forming nonfunctional, benign, cystic, enlargements of the pituitary.
