  • Noun - is a word that function as the same name of some specific things, such as living creatures, objects, places, actions, qualities, state of existence, or ideas.
  • Proper Noun
    • Is the name of specific person, place, thing, or idea.
    • It always begins with a capital letter.
    • Example: Manuel L. Quezon is considered as the father of the Philippine national language.
  • Common Noun
    • Is the generic name of a person, place, or thing in a class or group.
    • It is not capitalized unless it either begins a sentence or appears in a title.
    • Example: The CHEERLEADER was brought to the nearest hospital
  • Collective Noun
    • A noun that denotes a group of individuals. (e.g., assembly, family, or crew).
    • Example: The AUDIENCE clapped and cheered as the band showed up on the stage.
  • Concrete Noun
    • A noun that can be identified through one of the five senses (taste, touch, sight, hearing, or smell).
    • Example: The dog barked LOUDLY in the park.
  • Abstract Noun
    • A noun denoting an idea, quality, or state that is known by its effects but has no physical form or body.
    • It cannot be modified by the 5 senses.
    • Example: PATIENCE is a virtue.
  • Compound Noun
    • A noun that is made with two or more words used together to name one person, place, or thing. (the LIFEGUARD saved my mother's life)
    • Consists of words joined by one or more hyphens. (the PASSERS-BY sang as they exit the corridors)
    • Consists of two or more words that are used together to create a single noun, though not joined together. (the HIGH SCHOOL students failed the final exam)
  • Count Noun - refers to objects that can be counted. (the PHONES are safely kept in the locker)
  • Mass Noun - denoting something that cannot be counted but can be quantified by measurement. (A loaf of bread can make her happy)
