  • What is homeostasis?
The mechanisms by which a constant internal environment is achieved. The stability attained is a dynamic equilibrium, in which continuous change occurs yet relatively uniform conditions prevail.
  • What is negative feedback?
The response when conditions change from the ideal or set point which returns conditions to this set point. There is a continuous cycle of events
  • What is positive feedback?
When a high level of something triggers the body to increase it even further
  • Positive feedback is rare in biological systems since it leads to an unstable situation and extreme states. A disturbance leads to events which increase the disturbance further e.g nerve propagation
