Quadrilaterals and Area

• Parallelogram - opposite sides are parallel and equal in length

  
• Quadrilateral - a polygon with 4 sides
• Rectangle - a parallelogram where all 4 sides form right angles

  
• Rhombus - a parallelogram where all sides are equal in length

  
• Square - a parallelogram where all sides are equal in length and all 4 sides form right angles

  
• Trapezoid - has exactly 2 parallel sides, which are called base 1 and base 2. Sides do NOT have to be equal in length

  
• Perimeter - the distance around a two-dimensional shape
• Area - the size of a surface or is the amount of space inside a two-dimensional shape
