  3 main blood vessels : hepatic portal vein, hepatic vein, hepatic artery

  produces and secretes bile, an alkali, containing bile salts

  bile cannot chemically digest food, only aids in physical digestion
• gallbladder

  bile is temp stored here
• gallbladder

  when gb contracts, bile flows into the duodenum via the bile duct
• gallbladder

  attached to the liver
