German rearmament : Britain responded with signing the Anglo-German Naval Agreement in 1935 whereby they allowed Germany to build a navy 1/3 the size of Britain’s. This was giving in to Hitler’s desire to rearm although it violated the TOV.

Anschluss : Hitler got local Nazis to create trouble and push for union between Germany and Austria, even sent troops into Austria to “keep order” and pushed for a plebiscite
Britain and France did nothing when the Austrian Chancellor Kurt Schuschnigg appealed to them to make Hitler withdraw
They felt sympathetic towards Germany and believed the two countries could unite if they wanted. The British Foreign Secretary even suggested to Hitler that Britain would not oppose him.
