  • Preposition - a word that expresses relationships of various sorts between a noun or a pronoun and another word in the sentence.
  • Compound Preposition - consists of two or more words.
  • Conjunction - a word used to connect clauses or sentences or to coordinate words in the same clause.
  • Coordinating Conjunction - connects ideas of the same kind or order, like word to word, phrase to phrase, or clause to clause. (And, but, yet, or, nor, for, so)
  • Correlative Conjunction - connects the same kinds of words or groups of words and comes in pairs. (both, and; either, or; neither, nor; not, nor; whether, or not, but; never, no; not, only; but, also)
  • Subordinating Conjunction - connects two ideas that are not equal in rank. It is used to introduce a subordinate clause and links it to the main clause. Its function is to make clear the relation between the two clauses.
  • Interjection - used to express feelings or emotions such as joy, surprise, sudden pain, prolonged pain, disgust, anger, laughter, sorrow, impatience, hesitations, wonder, and etc. (aha, wew, my god, yey)
