  • Physiological Motives
    -          these are motive essential for the survival of man for its existence
  • -          need for hunger
    -    hunger is necessary in order for the person to feel the need to take food in the stomach
    -    hunger is cyclical because after a certain period of time that satisfaction is achieved, the individual will experience the need for food again
    -    hunger is also usually caused by the depletion of food in the stomach and would send sensory messages in the brain
  • -          need for thirst
    -    water is a life supporting need, without water, dehydration may occur
    -    thirst is necessary in order for the body to recognize the need to take in water
  • -          need for sleep and rest
    -    rest is both physical and mental need
    -    people need to rest in order to replenish cells damaged due to day’s activities and at the same time prevent fatigue and boredom
    -    the younger the individual, the more period of rest is necessary compared to the case of adults
  • -          need for proper elimination of waste
    -    part of maintaining proper physiological system
    -    this implies that toxins in the body would be able to get put of our system enabling man to be able to function appropriately
  • -          need for maintaining proper body temperature
    -    with regulated amount of temperature, individuals may properly respond to his environment and from its element
    -    people, especially from cold regions, adjust to their environment through bundling themselves with clothes in order to keep their temperature to their ideal temperature
  • -          sex urges

    -    males secrete hormones, androgen, while females secrete estrogen
    -    through these biological factors, these hormones ‘push’ people for sex
    -    sexual urges stem from the physiological process and renders the organism’s behavior to be selective and directional
