  • Red blood cells have no nucleus. They contain hemoglobin and is responsible for transporting gases throughout our body,
  • Hemoglobin is a red pigment, it is a special kind of protein that contains iron and carries gases.
  • White blood cells are larger than red blood cells but fewer in number. It does not contain hemoglobin and its shape is irregular.
  • Blood removes waste from cells. It is an internal circulating medium. It tranports raw materials (wastes, hormone, gases, and nutrients).
  • 55% Plasma is blood volume and is made of raw materials.
  • 1% Buffy coat is the white blood cells and platelets.
  • 45% Erythrocytes is the red blood cells.
  • Platelets are smaller than red blood cells and white blood cells. They are not true cells but are fragments of cytoplasm.
  • Blood clotting is when blood vessels are damaged. Blood clots stop the flow of blood.
  • Fibrinogen forms long, sticky strands of a substance called fibrins.
  • Plasma is a pale yellowish liquid that is about 92% of water, the remaining 8% is made up of dissolved complex.
