• a drug is: any substance taken into the body that modifies or affects chemical reactions in the body
• antibiotics - drug used for the treatment of bacterial infections
• antibiotics work by:

  • killing bacteria
  • inhibiting bacteria growth and reproduction
• • antibiotics kill bacteria, but does not affect viruses
  • antibiotics target specific features of bacteria
  • viruses are unaffected by antibiotics because they don't have bacterial features
