  • Designers create eye-catching designs. Designs websites, ads and packages etc. They use computer software to produce 3D designs.
  • Building Surveyors advise people who own or want to buy whether it meets building regulations or needs serious repairs. Advise people about the design and construction of new building. Inspect existing buildings (rot, cracks) and explain what maintenance and repairs they need
  • Building Surveyors use Location, Site and Floor Plans, Typographical Surveys, Electrical Drawings and Drainage Surveys
  • Quantity Surveyors estimate and control costs for a construction project from the early design plans through to the completed building
  • Quantity Surveyors would make sure the projects meet legal and quantity standards and should be able to carry out tasks on computer softwares
  • Town Planners help to shape how towns and cities develop. They balance demands on land by housing, business, transport and leisure with the needs of the community
  • Town Planners use surveying techniques, geographical information systems (GIS) and CAD
  • Interior Designers plan and supervise the decoration of homes, offices etc. to make them pretty. Need to come up with designs using CAD to make sketches
  • Constructive Trades include builders, plumbers, electricians, brick layers, joiners, roofers, landscape gardeners etc. Interpret architects drawings on how to construct different parts of a building and from what materials i.e. foundations
  • Construction Trades use building plans of proposed developement
  • Prospective Purchasers and Clients view floor plans, sections, elevations and rendered visuals of proposed developements
  • Architectural Technicians produce orthographics, produce plans and section that show the construction of walls, floors and roofs. They work on design plans, advise on the best use of building materials and monitor progress.
  • Architectural Technicians use Autodesk, AutoCAD, vector works, power CAD and Microstation
  • Consultant Engineers provide subject matter expertise to clients for engineering activities. They evaluate designs for subsystem components and monitor all vendor visits
  • Consultant Engineers use CAD, stress testing, orthographic drawings and computer aided drawing
  • Conservation Bodies includes UNESCO world heritage, historic Scotland.
  • Conservation Bodies use historical drawings and information of some listed buildings. May provide mapping of an urban area and comment on it architectural character and heritage for planning consultation
  • Communities give input into new developments using location and site plans, sections and elevations usually in PDF
