  • Network of organs and tissues that help you breathe.
  • Functions: Delivers oxygen to cells, removes waste gases, allows us to talk and smell, protects airways from harmful substances
  • The nose and mouth - Where it enters and exits. Air gets filtered by tiny hairs and moistened by mucus when it enters the nose.
  • The Pharynx (Throat) and Trachea (Windpipe) - Where air passes from the nose to bronchi tubes and lungs.
  • The bronchi tubes and bronchiole - There are 2 bronchi tubes that spilt up into multiple bronchioles.
  • Alveoli and Capillary network - Alveoli resemble grapes and are called airsacks because they're surrounded by capillaries. Exchange of gases and is the final step in the lungs.
  • Diaphragm - Helps the lungs expand when we inhale and contracts when we exhale.
