The National Curriculum means that girls and boys in primary and secondary schools have an equal access to the same subjects and some of the subjects are compulsory for everyone. Some researchers have argued that it has improved girls' performances in science and technology, but others have argued that it hasn't helped girls to choose these subjects at A-Level of degree level.
