What are the two factors of collision theory?
Reactants must
collide
with correct
orientation
and have
sufficient activation energy.
What is reaction rate?
The
speed
of which
products
are formed, to increase a reaction add
energy
,
manipulate activation energy
or
increase number
of
successful collisions.
How does concentration affect reaction rate?
If conc. is increased there is greater chance of reactants colliding, therefore a higher chance of successful collisions.
How does pressure affect reaction rate?
If increased the conc. of particles is
increased
and hence there are more
successful
collisions and a
faster
rate or reaction.
How does surface area affect reaction rate?
If the SA is
increased
the number of successful collisions
increase.
How does temperature affect reaction rate?
Temp.
increases
so does
energy
therefore
number
of
collisions.
How do catalysts affect reaction rate?
Lower
activation energy
,
increasing
reaction rate, an
alternative
reaction pathway.
